*IMO GOVERNMENT EXPOSES IHEKWEME'S N500M BLACKMAIL PLOT*
By Ella Michaels
The Imo State Government has uncovered a shocking attempt by one of its vocal critics, Dr. Fabian Ihekweme, to extort N500 million from Governor Hope Uzodimma in exchange for halting his verbal attacks on the administration.
According to Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, Ihekweme has been reaching out to friends of the governor and government officials, offering to "cease fire" if paid the staggering sum
Emelumba noted that Ihekweme's demand vindicates the government's earlier stance that the former Commissioner for International Affairs is driven by extortion and blackmail, rather than public interest or morality.
The commissioner revealed that Ihekweme has contacted multiple individuals, including a Lagos-based businessman, asking them to convince the governor to release N500 million to stop his baseless media attacks.
Emelumba described Ihekweme's actions as unfortunate, particularly given his past failures as a commissioner and pending police case files alleging theft of government property.
When asked if the government would consider paying Ihekweme's demanded hush money, Emelumba responded emphatically, "Never shall we condescend that low to even negotiate with a traitor and blackmailer... The governor has nothing to hide."
