A recent publication by the Eagle Eye blog has brought to our attention a malicious attempt to create chaos in Nekede/Avu. The blog falsely claims that Hon Victor Osigwe (Ikeoha), Chairman of Owerri West LGA, and Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (Egbe), Majority Leader, are planning to install opposition party members as leaders in Owerri West. They also accuse the duo of land grabbing activities.

This publication is not only false but also malicious, and it's clear that the intention is to create chaos and disrupt the peace in the community. The general public is urged to disregard this publication, as it is a desperate attempt by certain individuals to achieve their selfish interests.

According to  Mr Ikechukwu Ebomuche, the vice chairman of umuekwema youth association, the community is not in support of the blackmailing of Hon. Victor Osigwe and Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, who are reputable sons of the community. He stated that the youth are not happy with the developments and are calling for justice and fairness.

The mastermind behind this malicious publication is Mr. Stanley Lawrence Ike (Shibigam), the outgone Chairman of Ere and Aburuigwe Youth Association. Shibigam has been trying to install his puppet, Mr. Cedar Okechukwu Mbonu, as the new Chairman of the Youth Association, with the help of the Traditional Ruler of Umualum Nekede Autonomous Community, Eze Stephen Agumanu, and the Acting President General (PG) Comrade George Okorocha.

Their motive is to continue their land grabbing and racketing activities, particularly around the Central Market axis. Shibigam has been issuing land allocation papers to unsuspecting members of the public, despite not working in the Ministry of Lands or being the Commissioner of Land.

This is a clear case of impersonation and fraud, and it's surprising that Shibigam has been allowed to continue these illegal activities for so long.
Nze Anthony Ikechukwu stated that Eze Stephen Agumanu, George Okorocha, the Acting PG, and their cohorts, including Mr. Chris Martk Okechukwu Osuji, opposed the State Government's initiative to develop the Railway axis, as they had already sold parts of the community land to unsuspecting members of the public.

During the commissioning of the International market by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Traditional Ruler and PG were absent, as they were fighting against the State Government for their selfish interests. This is a clear indication that these individuals are not interested in the development of the community, but rather in their own personal gain.

In an attempt to continue their illegal activities, they rigged the Chairmanship position of Ere and Aburuigwe youth association during the election conducted by the acting PG Comrade George Okorocha. The youths who discovered the rigging were beaten and flogged by security personnel in the presence of the PG.

This is a clear case of electoral malpractice, and it's surprising that the PG and the security personnel involved have not been held accountable. Comrade Anthony Nze, who was rigged out of the election, petitioned the Owerri West LGA chairman and State Governor.

After proper investigations, the Youth Chairmanship election result was cancelled and a rerun of the election has been fixed  for Saturday  March 8, 2025

However, the proponents of the malicious publication are trying to scuttle the re-election, as they know their unpopular candidate, Mr. Cedar Okechukwu Mbonu, will not win. The community is peaceful and has no hand in the chaos being planned by these few evil minds.

Mr. Ikechi Somachi, another concerned member of the community, stated that Hon. Victor Osigwe and Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi are not harassing, intimidating, or imposing their will on the leadership of the youth. Rather, it is Eze Stephen Agumanu, George Okorocha, and Shibigam who are imposing their will on the youth, using them as stooges to collect development levies.

Mr. Okechukwu Njoku also called on the government to look into the matter and help the community, as one of their own, Mr. Ben Maduagwu, who is helping to make peace, is being threatened by Eze Stephen Agumanu and his cohorts.

The youth of the community have also accused Eze Stephen Agumanu and his cohorts of not having any legitimate means of livelihood, but rather relying on the sale of community lands to build their personal empires. They have called on the government to investigate this matter and bring them  to face the music of deceit
