In a bold move to tackle cult-related activities in Imo State, the police have apprehended five suspected members of the notorious Black Axe Confraternity. The suspects, identified as Uche Ibejiako, Mariano Daniel, Micheal Chukwuemeka, Annointing Ezeh, and another individual, were arrested on September 2, 2024, in Irete, Owerri, through an intelligence-based operation by the Quick Intervention Team (QIT).
According to ASP Henry Okoye, Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, the suspects have confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity, a known criminal group. The police spokesperson revealed that an investigation is ongoing to gather further evidence on their activities, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
This breakthrough is a significant step in the fight against cultism in Imo State, and the police are determined to rid the state of this menace. The people of Imo State can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the police are working tirelessly to ensure their safety and security.
