Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, a renowned academic and human nutritionist, has once again demonstrated his commitment to cultural heritage and community development. On Saturday, he joined the people of Egbu Ancient Kingdom to celebrate the Mbubouzor Egbu Cultural Festival, a significant event that showcases the rich cultural traditions of the community.
The festival, which was attended by His Royal Majesty, Eze Mitchell Ezesomaga Egbukole, Ochonma VI of Egbu autonomous community, and other dignitaries, provided a platform for the community to come together and celebrate their shared heritage. In his remarks, Amadi praised the pivotal role of Egbu Community in shaping the sociocultural, religious, economic, educational, and political history of Imo State and the Igbo nation.
Amadi commended the traditional ruler and his cabinet for their sustained efforts in maintaining the community's enduring peace and development. He emphasized that the annual festival is more than a celebration, as it is also a renewal of common ancestry. In a gesture of goodwill, Amadi donated ten million naira toward the ongoing Oha Egbu Parliamentary Hall project, further demonstrating his commitment to community development.
The traditional ruler, Eze Ochonma VI, described Amadi as a man of his time and season, whose genuine concern for the downtrodden transcends philanthropy. He commended Amadi for allowing God to use him as a conduit for blessings rather than a storehouse. The Eze offered his royal blessings and wished Amadi well in his endeavors.
In a related development, Amadi joined the women of Ohekelem Autonomous Community in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area (LGA) for their annual Women August Meeting. The community's traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Eze Emmanuel Okere (Ekelem of Ohekelem), and his council expressed their excitement about Amadi's presence. During the event, the President of the Ohekelem Women Association, Mrs. Glory Sam Nwaeke, highlighted the inadequate infrastructure in the community's secondary school and lack of accreditation for WAEC examination.
Amadi decried the fact that a community in Ngor-Okpala LGA, which receives an average of 450 million naira monthly as allocation, remains in such a deplorable state. He urged citizens to awaken from their self-imposed slumber and demand accountability from the relevant authorities. Amadi assured the community of his continued support for their development efforts and committed to sponsoring the registration of 150 students from Ohekelem Model Secondary School for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination with 50,000 naira for each student, totaling 7.5 million naira.
Additionally, Amadi donated 12 million naira for the provision of basic infrastructure for the school, in support of the women's initiatives. The founder and leader of The Mazi Organization was accompanied by prominent members of his organization, including Chief Henry Onwukwe (Apitti), Chief Dennis Okwu (Sweet Apple), Cajetan Duke, JP, Okenze Engr.
