The Progressive Institute (TPI) in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Imo State, is set to host a 3-day retreat on Public Sector Governance for officials of local governments in Imo State. The retreat will feature a total of 575 participants, comprising key officials from 27 local government areas of Imo State, including Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, LG Secretaries, Treasurers, Directors of Personnel Management, Councillors, and Supervisory Councillors.
The retreat will cover eight critical areas, including public procurement, public financial management, public service rules, public policy process and communication, public sector ethics and anti-corruption legislation, law-making process at the local government level, revenue generation strategies at the local government level, and monitoring and evaluation of projects at the local government level. These areas are crucial to effective governance and public administration, and the retreat aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles.
The Director-General of The Progressive Institute (TPI), Dr. Olanrewaju J. Adebayo, has expressed gratitude to the Governor of Imo State for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of Imo State. The Institute has also appealed to the Governor to use his good offices to persuade other APC governors to approve similar programs for The Progressive Institute (TPI) in their respective states. This initiative underscores the Institute's commitment to capacity building and good governance across Nigeria.
