In a significant move, The Mazi (Gburugburu) Organization (TMO) has welcomed prominent political chieftains from various parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), into its fold. This development is seen as a major milestone in the state's political landscape, particularly with the 2027 Imo governorship election looming.
The Director General of TMO, through the legal adviser, administered the oath of allegiance to the new members, who voluntarily joined the movement to liberate Imolites from bad governance. Dr. Brent Akomas, who led the Obowo LGA delegation, described the current state of affairs as "holding Imolites hostage under the stranglehold of a certain fraternity that keeps recycling deadwood and empowering only those who, despite their long romance with power and closeness to the corridors of governance, have not made any meaningful contribution towards improving the welfare of the people."
Hon. Udo Agoha, a former Commissioner for Agriculture, was also among those who joined TMO. The Director General emphasized that Imolites need a new direction, a new breeze, and a breath of fresh air, which can only come from their principal, Mazi Charles Amadi. He noted that the frenzy of the new movement has already captured the minds and imagination of the population, who are yearning for change.
Former Imo State PDP secretary and ex-Commissioner for Information and Strategy, George Egu, claimed to be an observer at the meeting but declared his readiness to be part of the movement. The ADP chairman, Dr. Uzor Nmezi, pledged his party's readiness to key into the movement if assured that the leadership would not derail or betray their principal, who he believes is a strong contender for the governorship.
The event marked a significant milestone in the journey of TMO, as it officially welcomed distinguished political figures into its fold. According to Hon. Cajetan Duke, JP, the Spokesperson and Head of Media & Publicity, "Today marks another significant milestone in the journey of The Mazi (Gburugburu) Organization as we officially welcome distinguished political figures to our fold. This is not just about numbers; it's about shared vision and purpose for a greater Imo State."
Notable personalities welcomed into TMO include Okenze Engr. Paul Opara, Hon. Udo Agoha, and Hon. Titus Anyanwu. Their decision to join TMO was hailed as a sign of the growing appeal of the organization across political party lines. With these additions, TMO is poised for greater influence in Imo State, leveraging the experience and leadership of these seasoned politicians.
TMO's principles of inclusivity, transparency, and accountability were reiterated, with a commitment to ensuring that every citizen of Imo has a voice in the decision-making process. The organization emphasized that it is open to all, irrespective of political affiliation, as it strives for the greater good of the state.
As the 2027 Imo governorship election approaches, TMO is positioning itself as a major player in the state's political landscape. With its growing membership and influence, the organization is likely to play a significant role in shaping the state's future.
