IMO STATE POLICE COMMAND COMMENCES ENFORCEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY VEHICLE INSURANCE POLICY

As part of efforts to ensure public safety, reduce the risk of accidents, and promote a secure environment for all road users in Imo State, the Imo State Police Command has commenced the enforcement of third-party vehicle insurance policy as of February 1, 2025.
This enforcement is in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, and is aimed at ensuring that all vehicles plying the roads in Imo State have valid third-party insurance coverage.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has instructed personnel to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity during the enforcement. He warned officers against any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the Force, emphasizing that any personnel found wanting would face severe sanctions.
_ENFORCEMENT TEAM_
The enforcement team comprises:
- Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs)
- Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW)
- Staff of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service
_WARNING TO VEHICLE OWNERS_
CP Aboki Danjuma urged vehicle owners to ensure their insurance documents are up-to-date to avoid any issues during the enforcement. Vehicle owners are advised to verify the authenticity of their insurance documents and ensure they have the required third-party insurance coverage.
_CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE_
Vehicles without valid third-party insurance will be impounded until compliance is ensured. Vehicle owners who fail to comply with the insurance policy may face penalties, fines, and other consequences.
