The Nigerian Police Force has declared two suspects, Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey), a British national, and Lucky Obiyan, a Nigerian, wanted for attempting to forcefully unseat President Bola Tinubu.
At a press conference in Abuja, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that the suspects were plotting to overthrow the democratically elected government through unconstitutional regime change and orchestrating violence across the country. Adejobi stated that Wynne built a network of sleeper cells to topple the government and plunge the nation into chaos.
Wynne allegedly rented space at Labour House, Abuja, for an 'Iva Valley Bookshop' and established 'STARS of Nations Schools' as a cover for his subversive activities. The police accused Wynne of providing finance and operational guidance to allegedly topple an elected government in the country.
Documentary evidence and confessions revealed that Wynne issued directives, monitored progress, and provided finance and operational guidance to achieve unconstitutional regime change in Nigeria. The suspects have fled the country, prompting a global hunt for their arrest and prosecution.
In addition to Wynne and Obiyan, the police have apprehended nine other suspects who received substantial financial backing from foreign sources to destabilize the country. The Nigerian government has assured citizens of their commitment to protecting the nation's democracy and maintaining law and order.
