The Mbaitoli state constituency representative in Imo State house of Assembly, Honorable Engineer Sir Innocent Ikechukwu Ikpamezie has appealed to the people of Obi-Mbieri autonomous Community to embrace peace by withdrawing all court cases against each other for unity and progress to Forster once more in the community.
Honorable Ikpamezie made this appeal in a meeting with the stakeholders and leaders of Obi-Mbieri autonomous Community convened in his office at house of Assembly complex to find lasting solution to the lingering Ezeship stool of Obi-Mbieri autonomous community.
The lawmaker who recalled that Obi-Mbieri used to be one of the peaceful communities in Mbaitoli local government area and Imo state before the present crisis, called for calmness and also appealed that all legal issue that is bringing disunity in the community be dropped to ensure that peace returns in the community.
"Where there is peace, there is development and prosperity" he opined.
Honorable Ikpamezie whose numerous Chieftaincy titles include OMEUDO ( Peace maker), reminded the Obi-Mbieri stakeholders that they elected him in the Imo House of Assembly , though as an APC member, but he is representing Mbaitoli as a whole irrespective of party affiliation. He recalled his pledge during his campaign, to restore and sustain peace and unity in communities of Mbaitoli. " I cannot represent you effectively well in the legislative Arm of the government when some communities are not at peace. There are 34 autonomous communities in Mbaitoli and it is my duty to ensure peace and unity so we can together, attract development and solve unemployment problems in Mbaitoli." He maintained.
He said that the Imo state progressive minded governor has plans to bring massive development in Mbaitoli but cannot do that if there is crisis and conflicts. He said he has come to reconcile everyone in Obi-Mbieri as misunderstanding, troubles, loggerhead and crisis is anti- development. Obi-Mbieri must move from glory to glory he concluded.
In there different speeches, the leaders and stakeholders thanked the pragmatic lawmaker for this wonderful initiative of brokering peace in Obi-Mbieri.
Chief Jah Osuji who is the public relations officer in the Eze's cabinet, in Obi-Mbieri autonomous Community clarified that the crisis arised due to the ill health of their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Elder Dr. Josiah Nzeremibe who travelled out the country for medical attention for a long time. Chief Kyrian Ndikom who was formerly a village head was appointed a regent on his behalf. Unfortunately, some desperate people in the community formed a cartel and issued a letter claiming to have removed the regent Chief Kyrian Ndikom. That has been the crust of the whole crises but expressed his joy that the Honorable member has stepped in to broker peace.
The president general of the community Chief Samuel Oparaugo also corroborated his story further named the palace officials as the ones causing the problems. And demanded to know the state of health of their traditional ruler who went overseas for medical attention.
The chairman of the constitutional review committee Chief Jeto Nwadi quoted the constitution that a traditional ruler is not supposed to leave his domain and appealed to the state government to do the right thing.
The secretary of PAJAC explained that the absence of HRH Eze Elder Josiah Nzeremibe has created a vacuum which resulted to the cartel being formed in the palace., Honorable Mrs Nkeiru Livinus who introduced herself as the woman leader explained that their late prime minister, late Chief Simon Anonugbo was falsely accused of diverting some millions of naira by the Cartel which was founded to be false which caused the death of their respected traditional ruler and called for the cautioning of the Cartel.
An Elder in the community, Chief Uzoma Ekeanyanwu commended Honorable Engineer Ikpamezie for his efforts to bring peace to Obi-Mbieri, describing him as a good leader. He clarified that he dragged the Traditional ruler to court because their community was without leadership for a long time while their Eze's whereabouts remains unknown. He however promised to withdraw his case and also called on others to follow suit. He however suggested a close door meeting of Obi-Mbieri stakeholders and The pragmatic lawmaker, Ikpamezie with a view of finding a lasting solution to the crisis.
