Mr. Bright Nwachukwu, the representative of Okigwe Zone on the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), and a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has unequivocally refuted the scandalous media reports alleging his involvement in embezzling party funds. Nwachukwu wasted no time in condemning these allegations, asserting that they were nothing more than a calculated ploy by his political adversaries to besmirch his unblemished reputation.
In a statement issued in Owerri on Wednesday, Nwachukwu firmly stated that his position on the IMSUBEB had no connection whatsoever to the financial matters of the APC. Thus, any insinuations of him pilfering party finances were both nonsensical and baseless. He went on to denounce those who concocted these claims, singling out Chief Tony Black Nduka for his propensity for engaging in smear campaigns.
Nwachukwu inquired pointedly, "How can I embezzle party funds when I hold no official party position? These accusations are the handiwork of my adversaries. Even the individual who signed the alleged leaked letter, Mr. Chima Njoku, has served as my Personal Assistant for over a decade. He was under my guidance for an extensive period. Regrettably, I had to reprimand him recently for his behavior and activities, both in my presence and in public. This reprimand was manipulated by those seeking to tarnish my reputation."
He continued, "It's rather comical that a sum as paltry as twenty thousand naira is the subject of this unfounded accusation against me. I want to make it clear that I never embezzled twenty thousand naira from the party. We live in a world where fighting corruption often invites retaliation, but this allegation is utterly preposterous."
Nwachukwu then drew attention to the individual he believes is behind this smear campaign, Chief Tony Black Nduka, whom he characterized as a master of underhanded tactics. He expressed his reluctance to engage with Nduka, given the generational divide between them, but was unapologetic in his criticism of Nduka's style of politics.
Nwachukwu elaborated, "I spent more than two decades in the oil and gas industry, exiting with an unblemished record as a director for the African Region. However, in the realm of politics, as they say, 'politics is a leveler.' I simply urge Chief Tony Black Nduka to act his age and desist from these nefarious tactics."
