ORLUZURUMEE YOUTH ASSEMBLY GETS NEW LEADERSHIP: PRINCE IZUNNA OBIEFULE TAKES THE REINS

The Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA) has welcomed a new executive team, with Prince Izunna Obiefule emerging as the President-elect. The election, held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, was marked by a peaceful, fair, and free process that drew stakeholders from across the Orlu Senatorial Zone.
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected President of OYA, Prince Izunna Obiefule, expressed gratitude to the members for their overwhelming support, with 36 out of 37 voters endorsing his leadership. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and unity among the youth of Orlu Senatorial Zone, pledging to work tirelessly to ensure that the voice and interests of the zone are represented in the broader scheme of events.
The new executive team comprises:

- *Dim Chibuike*: Secretary General
- *Nnanna Chukwuemeka*: Vice President
- *Ikenna Orioha*: Publicity Secretary
- *Paul Mercy*: Contact/Mobilization
- *Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth*: Assistant Secretary
- *Chinaka Awa*: Organizing Secretary
- *Emenalo Sopuruchukwu*: Treasurer
- *Obimma Jesse*: Students Affairs
- *Desmond Okolie*: Welfare
- *Chima Sobiere*: Provost
- *John Chituze*: Financial Secretary
Obiefule's victory is seen as a mandate for change and progress in the Orlu Senatorial Zone. The new President-elect has promised to prioritize tackling insecurity, which he believes has eaten deep into the fabric of the community. He plans to collaborate with relevant authorities to meaningfully engage youths and productively utilize their potential to eradicate crime and violence.

The President-elect's vision for the zone includes leveraging the region's rich oil and gas resources to drive economic growth and development. He stressed that building the youth is key to building the nation and emphasized the importance of holding political office holders accountable for their mandates.
The outgoing President, Comr. Thedeus Emejuru, expressed satisfaction with the successful election and highlighted some of the notable achievements during his tenure. These include collaborating with relevant agencies in peacebuilding and promoting lasting peace and promoting lasting peace in the Orlu Zone. Emejuru encouraged the youth not to succumb to intimidation or crime and praised the new executive team for their potential to drive positive change.

The Electoral Committee Chairman, Engr. Okolie Christian, noted that the election was credible and transparent, following a rigorous 3-day screening exercise that narrowed down the field to four presidential candidates. Three of the candidates stepped down for Prince Izunna Obiefule, demonstrating a strong consensus among the members.

The Publicity Secretary, Ikenna Orioha, expressed pride in the people for the fair, free, and transparent election, stating that the new leadership team will bring a brighter future for OYA and the Orlu Senatorial Zone under the leadership of Prince Izunna Obiefule and his team.
