Governor Hope Uzodimma has assured the people of Imo State that his administration will stop at nothing to end the mindless violence and worrisome activities of unknown gunmen in the state. The Governor expressed his heartfelt condolences to the people for the unfortunate killing of innocent citizens at Ideato North recently by these unscrupulous elements.
Senator Uzodimma openly expressed his anger on Sunday at the Government House Chapel over the dastardly act and the security situation in the state. He disclosed that some wicked politicians are bent on frustrating the efforts of the government to restore peace and security in Imo State. The Governor recalled the sadness of the incident that happened two years ago when a Local Government chairman was beheaded in Ideato North.
"Two years after , we have arrested the man who beheaded him, and the man has confessed as the one who did it and has mentioned some individuals that he is working for. Some of them have been invited by the police, and they are under interrogation," he said. He stressed that the government will stop at nothing to ensure that those people will face the wrath of the law, as many more will be invited.
Senator Uzodimmaong further remarked that "it is not enough for people to come around me here to pretend to be working for me when they are busy participating in conspiracy, eliminating innocent lives, and trying to pull down government." He stated and assured that efforts to make Imo State safe and secure will continue despite all odds.
The Governor announced that within the next two weeks, every community in the state will have a functional vigilante group that is supported and funded by the government with every logistics in place for their operations. This initiative is aimed at enhancing security in the state and bringing perpetrators of violence to justice.
On the issue of quality and affordable healthcare delivery system in the state, Governor Uzodimma encouraged well-meaning individuals to support the less privileged in their communities to enroll into the Imo Health Insurance Scheme in order to benefit from the healthcare delivery system. "Let us work as brothers and sisters to help restore and achieve the Imo State of our collective dream," Senator Uzodimma pleaded.
The Governor's commitment to ending insecurity in Imo State is a welcome development, and we urge all stakeholders to support his efforts. We also call on the people of Imo State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. Together, we can build a safer and more secure Imo State.
