The member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, has revealed that he is yet to take a decision on his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to Ugochinyere, he is still monitoring developments in the party before taking the next step.

Speaking with journalists at the Imo State NUJ Press Centre in Owerri, Ugochinyere stated that he is currently focused on delivering the legislative mandate given to him by the people who own his political future. He added that it is too early to begin talking about party politics when there are more important issues facing his constituency.

Ugochinyere expressed his discomfort with the happenings in PDP, but noted that he is being guided by his people's advice to focus on his legislative duties before any other thing. The lawmaker lamented the state of his constituency, citing erosion and insecurity as major problems facing his people.

He cried out that his people were on the verge of extinction if nothing urgent was done to salvage the situation. According to him, virtually all communities in his constituency are facing environmental disaster. Ugochinyere also decried the recent killing of innocent citizens in his constituency, blaming it on lack of adequate internal security.

The lawmaker suggested that if local vigilante groups were well-funded by the government, the situation could not have gotten to the present state. He also accused Local Council Chairmen of not residing in their respective areas, thereby creating rooms for unguided elements to unleash mayhem on innocent people.

Ugochinyere's comments highlight the challenges facing his constituency and the need for urgent attention from the government. As a lawmaker, he is committed to delivering the best for his people, and it remains to be seen what his next move will be regarding his membership of the PDP.
