The Imo State Police Command recently witnessed a significant event that underscored the importance of discipline, professionalism, and people-friendly policing. On June 23, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, paid a working visit to the Police Training School, Nekede, Owerri, where he addressed 264 recruits drawn from Imo and Abia States.
During his visit, CP Danjuma emphasized the need for the recruits to take their training seriously, remain disciplined, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in line with the Inspector General of Police's (IGP) vision of a Nigeria Police Force that is service-driven, rule of law compliant, professionally sound, and people-friendly. The CP's message was clear: the police force is undergoing a transformation, and it is imperative that the recruits are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver excellent service to the public.
The CP's commitment to capacity development was evident in his announcement that senior police officers in Imo State with academic backgrounds in Law, Psychology, Criminology, and other police-related fields will be periodically deployed to the school to enhance training quality to the highest standards. This move is expected to not only improve the recruits' knowledge but also provide them with practical experience and exposure to real-life policing scenarios.
During his tour of the hostels, classrooms, and kitchen, CP Danjuma expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and organization of the facilities. He commended the Commandant of the Training School, ACP Suleiman Shuaibu, and his staff for their dedication and professionalism. The CP also interacted personally with the male and female recruits, who expressed appreciation for the smooth training process and his inspiring presence.
In a gesture of goodwill, CP Danjuma donated 10 bags of rice, a fattened cow, and gallons of cooking oil to support the welfare of the recruits. This act of kindness is expected to boost the morale of the recruits and provide them with the necessary sustenance to focus on their training.
Representing the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Chief Security Officer to the Governor, CSP Shaba Gboyako Adamu, assured the recruits of the state government's continued support throughout their training. This assurance is a testament to the government's commitment to security and its recognition of the critical role that the police play in maintaining law and order.
The visit concluded with a vote of thanks by a representative of the recruits and a group photograph featuring the CP, the Commandant, members of the CP's management team, including DC Admin, DCP Hammajoda Barka, AC SID, ACP Adamu Amadu, AC X Squad, ACP Linus Nwaiwu, Area Commander Owerri Metropolis, ACP Micheal Abattam, DPO Nekede, Senior Officers, and recruits.

As the recruits complete their training and deploy to various police formations, they will be expected to apply the skills and knowledge acquired during their training to provide excellent service to the public. The Imo State Police Command is confident that the recruits will make a positive impact in the community and contribute to the overall safety and security of the state.
