In a significant move towards mobilizing media practitioners in Imo State, the Team Mazi Organisation (TMO) successfully held its inaugural meeting with media entrepreneurs on Sunday, February 23, 2025. The gathering, which took place at the Orange Room in Owerri, brought together a diverse group of media professionals, journalists, and stakeholders to discuss the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion and driving political transformation.

Comrade Cajethan Duke, JP, TMO's Spokesperson, set the tone for the meeting by expressing concern over the neglect of media professionals by the current administration in Imo State. He assured attendees that under TMO, the media would be recognized as crucial partners in governance and political discourse. Duke emphasized that TMO is committed to promoting Dr. Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi's candidacy for the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election, highlighting the need for a transformative leader who can drive positive change in the state.

The State Coordinator of TMO, Comrade Obioma Calistus Onwuegbuchulam, took the stage to emphasize the importance of unity and focus in achieving TMO's objectives. He praised Comrade Cajethan Duke's transition from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to TMO, noting that his presence had significantly eased the burden of promoting Dr. Amadi's candidacy. Onwuegbuchulam reaffirmed his conviction in Dr. Amadi's vision and capability to lead Imo State into a new era of development, urging attendees to remain focused and undistracted in their pursuit of a better future for the state.

Hon. Michael Crown Onyemaechi, the Convener of the meeting, welcomed all media professionals and stakeholders present, reiterating TMO's dedication to the press and the pivotal role of media in governance. He emphasized that Dr. Amadi values and respects media practitioners, unlike many politicians who neglect them after attaining power. Onyemaechi's sentiments resonated deeply with the attendees, who acknowledged the importance of a symbiotic relationship between the media and government.

The meeting featured contributions from various stakeholders, including Dr. Harold Onumou, a respected medical practitioner from Ihitte-Uboma. Dr. Onumou reaffirmed his support for TMO, citing the movement's potential to drive positive transformation in the state. He drew parallels between Imo State's current situation and the democratic rebirth of 1999, emphasizing that the state's residents must seize this moment to actualize their long-awaited vision for sustainable growth.

Martins Ohanaele, a prominent stakeholder from Avuvu Ikeduru, likened TMO's mission to the perseverance of the Israelites in Egypt. He urged media professionals to leverage their platforms to amplify the movement's message and ensure Dr. Amadi's victory in 2027. Ohanaele's passionate appeal resonated with the attendees, who acknowledged the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion and driving political change.

Prince Francis Uzo, Managing Director of Orange Room, commended his longtime associate, Hon. Michael Crown Onyemaechi, and emphasized the importance of electing a competent leader in 2027. Prince Uzo, an indigene of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, lamented the deteriorating business climate under the current administration, stressing that the state's residents must be cautious not to elect a leader who would exacerbate their suffering. "You must be a successful businessman to be entrusted with the governance of Imo State," he warned. "If we fail to elect a credible leader, the present sufferings under Governor Hope Uzodimma will only be the beginning."

The meeting concluded with a collective resolution to harness the power of the media for political enlightenment, civic engagement, and the realization of a progressive Imo State under Dr. Amadi's leadership. Notable Pen Pushers who spoke on behalf of the journalists present assured their commitment to delivering on the mandate in line with TMO's agenda for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

As Hon. Michael Crown Onyemaechi aptly put it, "You are fixers, and you are called to fix Imo State as a media team for global impact." With this inaugural meeting, TMO has set the stage for a transformative journey in Imo State, one that promises to harness the power of the media to drive positive change and progress. As the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election draws near, one thing is clear: TMO is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the state's future, and the media will be at the forefront of this journey.
