President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), effective immediately.
This development follows the indisposition of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, prompting the need for an interim leader.
Oluyede brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as Commander of the elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, based in Jaji, Kaduna.
His impressive military career spans over three decades, with notable commands and positions held.
Oluyede was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1992, after completing the 39th Regular Course.
He rose to Major-General in September 2020, demonstrating his dedication and leadership prowess.
Throughout his career, Oluyede has held various key positions, including Platoon Commander and Adjutant at 65 Battalion.
Additionally, he served as Company Commander at 177 Guards Battalion and Staff Officer Guards Brigade.
As a seasoned officer, Oluyede's expertise and leadership skills make him well-suited to lead the Nigerian Army.
