In a dramatic turn of events, security operatives intervened in an attempted motorcycle theft in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, on Sunday, September 1, 2024, around noon. Two young men were apprehended while trying to steal a motorcycle, after they had already stolen one earlier that day along the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway.
The suspects were met with aggression by a group of individuals at the scene, but timely intervention by security operatives prevented mob justice. The operatives transported the suspects to the nearest police station, averting a potentially dangerous situation.
An imo Edge reporter who witnessed the incident while in transit confirmed the details. However, as of press time, the Imo State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. The identities of the suspects and the outcome of their arrest remain unknown.
