_PDP Imo State Congress: Austin Nwachukwu Elected Chairman, Vows Inclusive Leadership_

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State held its 2024 Congress on Saturday, August 31, at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Center in Owerri. The event saw significant participation from delegates and members representing all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Rt. Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, a former Federal House of Representatives member, was elected as the new State Chairman of the Imo PDP. Nwachukwu expressed gratitude for his election and pledged to steer the party towards success in the 2027 elections. He committed to an inclusive leadership approach, urging former party members to return and help rejuvenate the PDP in Imo State.

Nwachukwu lauded the Electoral Committee for overseeing a peaceful and orderly Congress. He also acknowledged key figures who contributed to the success of the Congress, including Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum, National Secretary Sen. Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, and others.

The National Secretary of PDP, Sen. Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, led delegates from Ikeduru LGA in voting. The results were officially announced by the Chairman of the Imo PDP 2024 State Congress Electoral Panel, Hon. Amb. Odion Agweh, and his team. A total of 2,916 delegates were accredited and participated in the voting process.

The elected members of the Imo PDP State Working Committee include:

- State Chairman: Rt. Hon. Austin Nwachukwu (2,821 votes)
- Deputy Chairman: Hon. Chidi Agbasi
- State Secretary: Hon. Gerald U. Ogoko
- Organizing Secretary: Mr. Felix Nwosu
- Treasurer: Godstime Ozigbo
- State Youth Leader: Ndubueze Egburuaja
- Women Leader: Lolo Edith Nwachi
- State Auditor: Demian Ogu
- Legal Adviser: Barr. Bennett Amukamara
- Financial Secretary: Hon. Ugorji Onuegbu
- Publicity Secretary: Comr.Lancelot Obiaku

Other elected officials include Vice Chairmen, Assistant Women Leaders, Assistant Organizing Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Assistant Treasurers, Assistant Youth Leaders, and Ex-Officio members representing the three zones in Imo State.
