Assa Ngugo Autonomous community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State was agog on Saturday April 13th with activities and entrusted excitement as Imo Agriculture Development Programmes Officers stormed the community under the invitation of the Royal Highness Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye to Train farmers in many ways aimed to ensure food security in the State.
The Assa Ngugo community in Ikeduru received different lectures on how to improve in agriculture with the new agricultural technology and seedlings including yams, casava steaks, maize, vegetables ,okra and others crops seed.
The ADP officers also taught the farmers on cassava flour productions and minisett productions which is the multiplication of yam through production of yam seedlings.
Addressing our reporter, HRH, Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye expressed joy to the ADP Imo State for honoring his invitation to teach his people the new method of agricultural production.
In his words “I was inspired to invite Imo ADP due to the economic situation of the country currently, Agriculture is a good means of eradicating hunger in the land and also improving financial skill that will elevate the economic condition of my community, i have observed for so many years that the farmers in my community have not been getting good harvest and i felt there is need to improve their agricultural knowledge to improve in their production, hence my organizing the seminar with ADP to impart more knowledge in my people.
Further speaking he urge the people of his community to implement the things they learnt from the seminar for a greater and joyful productive agricultural season and promised that there will be more seminars to come in other aspects of agriculture like animal husbandry and snails rearing.
The SMS Props Imo ADP Owerri Zone, Mrs. Madu Lawrence Chinyere, according to her said that they were invited by HRH Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye to teach the people of Assa Ngugo community on new improved proven effective agricultural technology in yam and cassava production and also in maize. She expressed happiness at the turnout of the farmers and the community in general.
Also contributing in their separate interviews, Juliet Obasi, a staff of ADP and Akahara Pauline also of ADP, said they are happy to be with the community and impart knowledge of agricultural production to the community.
The woman leader of Assa Ngugo community Deaconess Chika Ozuzu, described HRH Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye as a God sent to the Assa Ngugo Autonomous community and to the women in particular. She said that Eze Nneji believed in teaching them how to fish instead of giving them fish daily which is a very good progressive attitude.
She also described this gesture as a very wonderful developmental move to curb hunger, and social vices in their community. She believes when they use what they learnt in this seminar this farming season, there will be a great improvement and a bumper harvest next farming season.
She showered blessings on their progressive minded HRH Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye and promised that they will use everything they have learnt. Another woman in the community, Georginia Uzoma expressed her happiness for the seminar and wishes Your Highness well for this gesture.
The Assa Ngugo community traditional prime minister on behalf of the farmers, expressed total satisfaction with the ADP seminar organized by HRH Nzeji Chinedu Abaraonye describing it as an excellent innovation to improve the conditions of the community.
He said that the importance of agriculture in Assa community can not be over emphasized and thanked HRH for this wonderful idea. In the time past he explained, no Royal Highness has ever come up with such idea but this young man was so thoughtful and experienced to organize such a beautiful and developmental seminar.
He advised HRH to continue bringing such idea that will improve the living conditions of his people and also the economic status of the entire community.
