The leadership of a foremost socio-cultural organisation, Life In Imo Group (LIIG), have foresight the major political parties in the state to desist from any plan to use violence or monetary inducement to win the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election.
In a statement issued by the group signed by the Chairman Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis (OluImo)and the secretary Daniel Opara ( DanJ ) enjoined all the political aspirants to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid any act that is capable of leading to lawlessness, even as they added that in any political contest, there must be losers and a winner.
The group stressed that Imo citizens are willing to go to the polls on Saturday November 11 to elect a new Governor, so it is adviced that all political parties should think on how to convince the electorates through the enunciation of their plans and ideas on how to develop the state.
“The political party leaders and major foot soldiers of the political parties ” should be put under surveillance throughout the duration of the build up and also the election day proper , to checkmate the deployment of arms, ammunition and thugs before , during and after the elections, the group charged security services and INEC.
Continuing the group used this medium to remind the politicians especially the office seekers and their supporters , that democracy is a game played through laid down principles.
“The ultimate priorities of political office holders is how maximally the lives of the electorate are improved, secured and empowered, not destroyed.
On this note life In Imo Group urge the police,other Security outfits and INEC officials to remain neutral on discharging their duties during the election
The group have resolved to address the world on their plans to monitor the election from polling unit to polling unit , and has strategized to deploy journalists across the centres to ensure that every evidence of malpractices are been made open before the law.
Meanwhile, some leaders of the group who added their voices collectively are: ‘Hon.Deacon Dan Opara (Danjay), Princemolla Douglas Umunnakwe, and Princess Stevenie Michaels, amongst other executive members of LIIG promised to ensure free,fair and most transparent Imo guber polls,come November 11th 2023 exercise in the state in their respective political will.
