In collective to endless political quests for good governance and transparent leadership in Imo State in particular and in Nigeria at large, a highly respected and worthy pressure group known as “Obidient-New-Imo”, (Movement), ably led by the Convener, Hon.Dr.Emeka Mandela, was Saturday, September 7th 2023, officially endorsed the incumbent Imo State, Sen.Hope Odidika Uzodimma, (Onwu Oyoko) for the second term in office as governor.
Successfully, the political gathering which was held at the Imo NUJ Secretariat New-Owerri Area, attracted over 1000 respected persons especially the youths from across the 27 LGA’s of the state with the theme:” Obidient Partnership With Imo Governor: A New Imo Is Obidiently Hopeful”.
The leader of the group, Dr.Mandela, through a World Press Conference, expressed satisfaction with the large turn out of members, supporters and critical stakeholders of Obidient- New- Imo-Platform.
According to Mandela in his address, ” Obidient New Imo Movement of Nigeria is a non-partisan group of citizens of like minds, a civil society group that does not belong to any political party but an advocacy movement platform with an obvious vision of supporting and encouraging good governance to ensure quality leadership for all Nigerians and Imolites in particular”.
The Convener, Dr.Mandela, while speaking through his three pages address, reeled out some the leadership giant strides and developmental achievements of the Imo APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Governor Hope Uzodimma since his emergence as governor in 2020, described the governor as a wonderful silent achiever who have no interest on acquisition of material wealth but a man with great passion to offer favourable leadership the benefits of the Imo masses”.
Dr.Mandela, therefore expressed optimism that Imo will be better in this present partnership with the governor, even as he assured the Shared Prosperity Administration of their support in the forthcoming November 11th 2023 Imo guber election exercise.
In his words, Dr.Mandela said, “We have watched the government of Governor Uzodimma for years with keen interests, and we have seen that he is the most capable, credible and most popular choice amongst all those aspiring to govern Imo through their various political parties;
“It is very better for us (voters) to support the governor we know already than to allow a governorship candidate we don’t know. Governor Hope is the governor that we all know him too well and he is poised to deliver of the dividends of democracy”, Mandela submitted.
Highlights of the World Press Conference organized by the leadership of Obidient-New-Imo Movement was the mass endorsement of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election, come November 11th 2023 by hundreds of thousands of people in attendance at the summit.
A very warm vote of thanks was gladly rendered by a Retired Nigerian Military Col.Chief Mrs.Chinyere Obi, who in her words, assured members of her Obidient Group and Imo citizens of Uzodimma’s victory in the November 11th Imo guber polls.
She however ceased opportunity and appealed to the youths, men and women to cast their mass votes to APC for the sake of Governor Uzodimma.
Leaders of Obidient New Imo Movement Group present at the World Press Conference includes: Comr.
