The Human Life Protection Advocacy Initiative (HLPAI) and it's affiliate Life In Imo Group (LIIG) under the leadership of Prince Maduba Chukwudi (OluImo) , on Monday tasked Security chiefs of the federal Republic of Nigeria on the need to stabilise the polity in the Communities of Imo State as a build - up to the November 11 governorship election.
In a statement signed by Prince Maduba Chukwudi (OluImo) , urged federal government to urgently intervene in the recovering and restoring normalcy in Imo State by deploying security and other strategic logistics to adequately contain the wave of insecurity in the State 14 days ahead of November 11 governorship election.
OluImo expressed worries by the development of the recent concluded General Election further exposed the polity to the activities of the miscreants who terrorise some Communities in Imo State , striking at will and retreating unchallenged.
The group is alarmed that the challenges and predicaments in state security is spanning from lack of sufficient equipment to corruption in the system, lack of strategic deployment, sabotage and betrayal are worsening the integrity and proficiency of the security agencies in the face of increased spate of terrorism, kidnapping and worst of all Political killings.
"We are also worried that some Communities in Imo State has been taken over by terrorists , where residents who are unable to exit , now wake up seeing young men walking freely with sophisticated arms , taking charge as government of the localities, dishing order to the residents on what to do daily basis . And such communities like Agwa has three INEC wards and Nine Communities over 40,000 voters is now deserted , same to other Communities in Ehime, Orsu , Orlu and others .
The group is also mindful of the fact that with the heightened tempo of political activities , the polity must be kept safe and conducive for the citizens to return to their respective homes to freely participate in the electoral and other activities to achieve long term results of stable polity and normalcy in the state .
OluImo further charges Imo State security chiefs to work towards the security of lives and property by embracing the early Response Mechanism to Conjunct with active security agencies in sharing of intelligence information.
Conclusively, as time is fast approaching, we urged the federal Government to deploy more Security personnel to stabilise Normalcy 14 days ahead of the November 11 governorship election , to enable people who has abandoned their homes because of fear to gather courage of returning home during the election.
