The Imo Political Awareness Group( IPAG) has pointed an accusing fingers at the People's Democratic Party( PDP) and some of its key players in imo state. The group particularly Named the Guber candidate of PDP Samuel Anyanwu ( SamDaddy), The Member Representing Ideato North and South, Ugochinyere and others for capitalizing on the current insecurity in the state to whip up sentiments and thereby fuel the people's speculation.
The convener Mr. Collins Opuriozor in a press conference held on Wednesday in Owerri, stated that the insecurity in Imo state is largely sponsored by opposition elements that doesn't have the interest of the party at heart who always raise false alarm which fuel u founded falsehood and heat up the polity.
The immediate past publicity secretary of Imo PDP cited the recent brutal attack on the State Working Committee of the party in which he alleged that the PDP GUBER Candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu sponsored thugs that invaded the party office to kill any SWC Member in Sight.They, including himself almost lost their lives as an evidence of those behind insecurity in the state. This evil act he said, was the major reason why he and other seven key members of SWC decided to leave PDP and join APC where he concluded are a safe heaven for everyone.
Opuriozor further accused the ideato North and South federal constituency representative,Ikenga ugochinyere of making unguarded statements against the Governor of imo state Senator Hope Uzodimma and his government thereby insiting the people against the government.
In his own words, " while these opposition elements sponsor and actively participate in stroking the fires of insecurity in the state, they further willfully sabotage the effort of security agencies in combating crime and keeping imo safe. A peaceful Imo doesn't satisfy their unbridled lust for power, so mischievously, they steam to the high heavens about the government's determination to keep the wolf of insecurity far away from Imo." He recalled the origin of the wicked agenda of taking power in Imo through violence, anarchy and blood shed by some opposition leaders who threatened to make Imo unbearable when they lost elections in 2020. Barely one year Senator Hope Uzodinma came into office, armed bandits struck Imo correctional Centre and Police Headquarters in Imo and freed not fewer than one thousand nine hundred prison inmates and criminals and shortly after that, abduction, arson and terrorism because daily activity in Imo state. The capital city of Owerri were violently invaded and almost on daily basis, and many innocent people killed.
By the quarter end of 2022, the state government in collaboration with security agencies effectively addressed the situation,secured Imo state and reduced the attacks to the barest minimum. Imo once again became a safe place for people to go about their businesses without fear of being killed.
Collins Opuriozor and his civil society group were concerned as the November 11 Governorship elections approaches, these anti- Imo elements in PDP as he described them, has once more commenced their onslaught against people of Imo in their bid to take the power by force. They are the proverbial people that cut wood in the forest and run to the road to raise alarm, painting the Government of Senator Uzodimma in a bad light and wanting to whip up sentiments and hate for the government.
The group there for call on the inspector general of Police and The Department of security services to beam their searchlights on the activities of the PDP in Imo state with a view to investigate and Prosecute those behind the horrific attack in the state.He also urge Ideato people where Ikenga Imo Represent to remain focused, law abiding and peaceful and not to let Ikenga Ugochinyere decieve them and turn their mind against the performing Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
